YOGA
Yoga means union - union between our bodies and our breath, our minds and the present moment, and our hearts with “what is”.
Yoga, when its practiced with the right blend of effort and ease, reminds us what it’s like to feel good.
Our retreats offer the opportunity for a daily movement practice. Much more than a weekly class, daily yoga builds muscle strength, kinestetic understanding, and inner quiet. By the end of our retreat you are likely to move with greater confidence and ease than when you arrived, saying goodbye to the normal sluggish(or heavy) feeling that often accompanies travel and stepping outside of routine.
Classes will be taught in the Iyengar method which focuses on precise instruction in order to to bring about a penetrating awareness and understanding of the body. In Iyengar Yoga we don’t just do the pose, we learn how to do the pose. Classes will be a blend of strength building, release, functional movement and mindfulness. Instruction and poses will be adapted to fit each student’s needs and abilities. Morning sessions will be active and invigorating while late afternoon sessions will focus on relaxation and breathing.
All are welcome on our Good Living Retreats. A minimum of 6 months of recent yoga experience is recommended but not required. Participation in any or all of the daily yoga classes is totally optional. Spouses and partners are welcome to attend.
